Your individual responses are essential to help the RC achieve the goals of the future of family medicine. The common requirements of the ACGME program are a fundamental set of standards in the training and preparation of young physicians and their colleagues. These requirements form the context in clinical learning environments for the development of the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to assume personal responsibility for individual patient care. In addition, they create an environment where residents and fellows can interact with patients under the guidance and supervision of qualified faculty members who add value, context and meaning to these interactions. Every 10 years, review committees review the specific requirements of their program to determine what revisions are needed. These proposed requirements are the result of extensive work and valuable discussions that the Family Medicine Review Committee has had with family medicine over the past two years. Prior to the review, the committee and the community proactively, rigorously and creatively reflected on what the specialty, primary care physician and health needs of the future would look like. Ideas and topics derived from this technique, as well as community feedback on current requirements, played an important role in these revisions. STFM, along with other family members, will submit an organizational response to the review and gather feedback from members on specific collaborations.
